Tucked in the foothills of holy mountain Tirumala, Tirupathi town is in the Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh state. It is popular across the world as the functional gateway to the most revered & biggest pilgrimage destinations, the Tirumala Hills that has the famous Temple Lord Tirupathi Balaji. It is the temple housing Sri Venkateswara i.e., Lord Vishnu. The temple at the top of Tirumala hills. The hill has 7 peaks, called "Sapthagiri", which is believed to represent the seven hoods of Adisesha. Adisesha is also known as Sheshnag, the serpent on whom Lord Vishnu rests.

One of world’s most visited pilgrimage destinations, Tirupathi is visited by lakhs of devotees every day, who have travelled from far-away lands to pay homage to Lord Vishnu or Venkateswara, here. Tirupathi, is considered to be one amongst the 8 most sacred abode of Lord Vishnu and is immensely believed in and worshiped. This temple town is called God’s Abode and is identified with the temple. The local market here is more like any Indian temple town. Lines of shops selling religious items, pictures of gods & goddesses, journals, payer books and other items that are symbolic of the deity and one can take them back as souvenirs.

Along with the regular rituals of Lord Tirumala Venkateswara, the prime festival here is the annual Sri Venkateswara Swami vari Brahmotsavam. Also called as the Srivari Brahmotsavams, this magnanimous festival is celebrated for 9 days in Hindu month Āśvina, sometime between September and October. The Utsava-murti or the processional deity of the Lord Venkateswara, along with Utsava-murti of Sridevi and Utsava-murti of Bhudevi, is taken on a procession on different Vahanams / Tabloids, which are gorgeously decorated with flowers and lights, on the streets surrounding the temple. This festival attracts tourists and pilgrims from all over the world and is an experience that exposes you to India’s rich Temple culture and heritage.
