Pelling is just a scenic, tranquil yet fast developing swelling hamlet in West Sikkim, which boasts of the best views of Kanchenjunga (Khangchendzonga) Range. Perched at 1,900 m above mean sea level, Pelling is around 130 km from Gangtok, the capital of Sikkim. The no-compromise views of surrounding mountain ranges such as Kabru North, Kabru South and Kabru Dom, Tinchikhang, Pandim, Koktang, Frey, Rathong, Talung Kanchenjunga, Jopuno, Narsing and others, makes this place a paradise. The place is the closest one can get to Kanchenjunga that too without compromising on comforts. However, the rich history, mesmerizing nature, serene environment and local culture, has been inviting tourists from far & near making Pelling the 2nd most visited tourist destination in Sikkim, next to Gangtok.

Pelling is a beautiful town with breath-taking sight of the Khangchendzonga and the neighboring peaks as its main attraction. The famous monastery, Pemayangste is nearby and is not only a beautiful place but also a very peaceful abode to visit. Pelling has awesome locations for adventure tourism including mountain biking, rock climbing, hiking, trekking and more. Village tours, and meditations tours are also very popular here.

Village tourism in Sikkim is also booming and the local people & organizations are working towards managing it in an environmentally, socially and culturally responsible manner. Places to visit in and around Pelling include Pemayangtse monastery of 1705 & other monasteries around, rock garden, waterfalls, the holy rock of Rani Dhunga, the imposing double-pronged Kanchenjungha Falls, the archaic quaint Singshore Bridge, the Changey Waterfalls, and the Khecheopalri Lake holy to Buddhists. Darap Village is a village tour location that is mostly occupied by the Limboo and is filed with interesting facts and real life experiences of Limboo way of living. The Khecheopalri Lake is a must see place. It is one of the sacred lakes of Sikkim. One should not miss the Rabdanse Ruins on your way back from Pemayangtse Monastery. Other locations close to Pelling are Dzongri Yuksom, Hee Burmiok, and Rinchenpong that attract lots of tourist as well.

Sikkim celebrates a number of festivals throughout the year, here in Pelling, and most of the festivals are centered on the traditions of the Pemayangtse Monastery & Sangachoeling Monasteries. Folk music, songs and dances here are rich and energetic, and a must see.
