Designed on the pattern of ‘Palace On Wheels’, however, in service to offer seamless travel experience of the state of Maharashtra., Deccan Odyssey is an elegant luxury train for a comfortable journey. Run by combined efforts of government of Maharashtra and Indian Railways, the Deccan Odyssey route covers destinations including Mumbai Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Goa, Kolhapur, Belgaon, Solapur, Nanded, Aurangabad, Ajanta-Ellora Nasik, Pune and then back to Mumbai. The purpose of the train is just not let a visitors to have a scenic view of the state of Maharashtra but to have a world class amenities on board on a train. Deccan Odyssey is a complete five star hotel on wheel. The amenities offered on train include two restaurants, bar, a sauna, business center and other such facilities. As far as for coaches are concerned, it has 10 fully air-conditioned Deluxe Cabin saloons, having 4 bedded chambers and 2 fully air-conditioned Presidential Suite saloons each with 2 suites with combination of living room & bed room. Saloons there are equipped with channel music, intercom, music-player, attached toilets, running hot and cold water, shower, wall-to-wall carpeting and other amenities.

Itinerary

  • Day 01 : Wednesday Departure at 1640 from Mumbai

    Today you will start your lifetime journey from Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus in Mumbai on Deccan Odyssey luxury train of India. The Deccan Odyssey luxury train starts at 1640 from Mumbai and the meal and night stay will be on board the luxury train.

  • Day 02 : Arrive Thursday Jaigad, Ganapatipule, Ratnagiri

    The first destination of Deccan Odyssey luxury train is Bhoke Railway station over where you can explore Jaigad, Ganapatipule and Ratnagiri. After the breakfast board the air conditioned coach to reach Rai Bhatgaon Jetty for Back Water Cruise up to historical fort Jaigad. From here, hop into the bus to explore finest beach along the Konkan coast. Free time and lunch at Ganapatipule beach resort. Later proceed for sightseeing tour of Ratnagiri town.

    Visit to Ratnadurg Fort, Lokmanya Tilak Smarak and free time in Ratnagiri Bazar. Board the train at Ratnagiri Railway station. The train leaves for Sindhudurg. Dinner and night aboard Deccan Odyssey train.

  • Day 03 : Friday Sindhudurg and Tarkali

    Upon arrival at Sindhudurg railway station in the morning, enjoy breakfast and then board air conditioned coach to Malvan Jetty to witness Sindhudurg Sea Fort. From jetty proceed to Tarkarli beach resort for lunch and free time. After lunch Back Water Cruise through the Tarkarli creek up to Kalse Jetty followed by visit to Sawantwadi town by bus to witness fabulous lacquer handicrafts, paintings and furniture at the “Shilpagrama” in the town.

    Late in the evening board the train at Sawantwadi railway station and proceed to Goa on your Deccan Odyssey luxury train.

  • Day 04 : Saturday Goa

    Today morning train arrives in Goa. This is the most frequented tourist spot and the finest beach destination in India. In Goa, whole day you can enjoy beaches and can visit the beautiful Old Churches, Portuguese style houses and market of Panjim. Lunch at Fort Aguada Beach Resort and then visit the Dona Paulo and 250 years old house. In evening, board the train from Madgaon railway station. Dinner and stay on board the luxury train Deccan Odyssey.

  • Day 05 : Sunday Kohlapur and Pune

    Today morning arrive at Kolhapur City, known as Karveer or Dakshin Kashi of Maharashtra situated on the banks of river Panchaganga. Board the air conditioned coach to visit New Palace, a royal palace partly converted into museum, Bhawani Mandap (The Town Hall) witness traditional Martial Art locally known as "Mardani Khel", An exquisitely carved Mahalaxmi Temple a temple of goddess Ambabai visited by millions pilgrims, Shalini Palace built of intricately carved black stone & Italian Marble stands on the west side of lake Rankala, watch cultural programme and visit handicraft stalls for perfect memorabilia.

    At noon board the train at Kolhapur station to depart for Pune. Enjoy lunch aboard luxury train. After spending leisure time onboard, evening arrive at Pune. Board the air conditioned coach to visit Raja Dinkar Kelkar Museum, houses various artefacts of the 17th, 18th & 19th Centuries. Board the train from Pune railway station and proceed to Aurangabad. Dinner and overnight stay onboard Deccan Odyssey train.

  • Day 06 : Monday Arrival 0830 hrs at Aurangabad. Departure at 1800 hrs to Jalgaon.

    Today morning you will be welcomed at Aurangabad the place of world heritage site. It is the place having 34 cave temples dedicated to three different religions- Hinduism, Buddhism & Jainism known as Ellora caves. Firstly visit the Ellora caves then enjoy your lunch followed by cultural programe at Hotel Taj.

    Post lunch visit to Shivaji Museum which showcase weapons and antiques from the great Maratha Empire. Also visit Aurangabad Caves No. 7 & 8 and Bibi-ka-Maqbara, a replica of world renowned Taj Mahal is a grand piece of Mughal architecture.

    Spend your free time in shopping Paithani, Himroo, and Bidriwork from showrooms for a perfect memorabilia.

    Later in the evening board the train from Aurangabad railway station and leave to Jalgaon. Dinner and night stay on board Deccan Odyssey train.

  • Day 07 : Tuesday Jalgaon and Nasik

    Arrive Jalgaon station early morning, enjoy breakfast on board and proceed to luxury coach to T Junction. After the drive of few kilometres, you will find yourself surrounded by dramatic views of the Waghora valley where the Ajanta Caves are located. Older than the Ellora caves (200 BC to 650 AD) they are also cut from the volcanic lava of the Deccan Trap in a steep crescent shaped hillside. Later board the train and depart to Nasik where you enjoy the view of Panchwati Ghats. Later depart with Deccan Odyssey train to Mumbai.

  • Day 08 : Wednesday Arrival 0815 hrs at Mumbai

    Morning after arrival at Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, Mumbai, enjoy the breakfast on board, as the sun rises over the commercial capital of India. Alight at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, the royal journey is over, but the memory of which, will live on forever.
