Largest city of Northern Kerala's, Kozhikode also known as Calicut. Once the capital of Zamorin dynasty, British made Calicut a part of the Madras-province. Frequented by traders from Arabia and Europe, Calicut was a prosperous trading town ever since history sites. The English word calico, meaning a cotton textile, originated from the name of Calicut.
