A Picture-Perfect Getaway Deep Down South India

A serene and quite hill town in Karnataka state, Madikeri is a popular tourist destination or weekend getaway near Bangalore. Misty mountains, lush green forest land and acres of tea and coffee plantations, all come together to create that perfect setting for a relaxed holiday. The breathtaking view and comfortable locale make this hill station a tourist preferred place.

If you are looking for a holiday to simply relax in the lap of nature then this place is must visit for you. Later rebuilt by Tipu Sultan this is a nice place to explore and dig into some history; Omkareshwara Temple - a temple built in a Mohammedan style, Abbey Falls - The Kaveri river cascades down here creating this beautiful water fall, around 7-9 km from Madikeri.

The fall is amidst a sprawling coffee plantation zone and has a hanging bridge across the gorge for a great view.; Talakaveri - the source of Kaveri / Cauvery river is around 42 km from Madikeri and is also an important pilgrimage site for Hindus; Bhagamandala Temple located at 36 km from Madikeri, the temple is built at the confluence of Cauvery. Kannika and Sujyothi; Do visit the Dubbare Elephant camp, not only for the camp but also enjoy the route that passes through scenic coffee estates and paddy fields. Once can enjoy boat rides, rafting and camping too.
