A Golden Triangle tour combined with a dose of spirituality is a perfect tour for those who plan to get a cultural shock and then seek spiritual peace. India's Golden Triangle is a circuit which allows you to dig out glorious history of the Mughal and Rajput dynasties. The cities of Delhi, Agra and Jaipur, which together make up the Golden Triangle, are travel destinations which will easily pique the interest of even the most jaded traveller. And when you add to it tours to places like Haridwar and Rishikesh, both located in the state of Uttarakhand, the overall effect is going to be magical. Haridwar is popular as the 'Gateway to God' while Rishikesh is called the 'Yoga Capital of India'.
Start your day with a sightseeing tour of Old Delhi (established by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan) and New Delhi. See the Jama Masjid where 25,000 people can pray at a time. Soak up the wonderful views of the Red Fort. Enjoy a rickshaw ride through the narrow, crowded streets of the Chandni Chowk, the erstwhile market of the Mughal dynasty. Make a visit to the Qutub Minar, the Humayun's Tomb, the India Gate and the President's Palace etc. Next day, drive to Haridwar, a famous pilgrimage destination for the Hindus. Haridwar has numerous temples where you'll experience Hindu rites and rituals from close quarters. Located on the bank of the Ganges, this holy town also has several ghats where devotees can be seen observing rituals in large number. View the Ganga Aarti (a devotional ritual performed on the banks of the Ganges) in vibrant action. The melodious ringing of bells, chanting and the sight of lamps afloat the Ganges create a spectacular scene. When in Rishikesh, visit famous attractions like the Lakshman Jhula, Bharat Mandir, Gita Bhawan etc. The next day, undertake a road journey to Agra, the 'City of the Taj'. Enjoy the incredibly engaging view of the ivory-white Taj Mahal, built by Shah Jahan in the memory of his beloved wife. After viewing the gigantic Red Fort, head towards Jaipur. Once you are in Jaipur, get ready for a cultural sightseeing. Famous places to see in the city include the City Palace (and the Museum), the Palace of Winds, the Amer Fort and the Jantar Mantar Observatory. Spend some time in the local markets.
