Whether or not you have been to India yet, you must have heard about the very famous Golden Triangle Circuit which connects Delhi, Agra and Jaipur. For the first-timers, this is the perfect tour as a befitting introduction to the wonderful history and culture of India. What's interesting about this tourist circuit is that each of the three cities that it is comprised of is located at roughly an equal distance of 200-250 km from each other. Located in northern India, each of Delhi, Agra and Jaipur is rich in history and redolent with the memories of the past. Delhi is a heady mix of the old and the new. Agra is where the Taj Mahal, one of the seven wonders of the world, is located. Jaipur, famous as the 'Pink City', is where you'll come across forts and palaces of the Rajput Era.
Your tour begins in the city of Delhi. After your arrival, start on a wonderful sightseeing tour of Old Delhi and New Delhi. In Old Delhi, you'll have fun viewing the Jama Masjid and the Red Fort. Plus, you'll enjoy a rickshaw ride through the bustling lanes of Chandni Chowk, a market whose history dates back to the Mughal era. New Delhi has such famous tourist attractions as the Qutub Minar, Humayun's Tomb, India Gate and the President's Palace. Living up to its name quite well, New Delhi is also dispersed with a number of modern-day attractions. After breakfast the next day, get ready for a road journey to Agra, the erstwhile Mughal capital. Enjoy heart-stirring views of the Taj Mahal and know the interesting story behind its construction. Ask your travel guide about some of the unique architectural features of the Taj Mahal and you'll be surprised at what you come to know about the monument. The next tourist attraction on your list is the Agra Fort, which is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Explore this gigantic building in the evening. Next morning, drive to Jaipur while visiting Fatehpur Sikri en route. Fatehpur Sikri is popular as the 'Ghost Town' because it was abandoned by the Mughals due to scarcity of water. Once you set foot in Jaipur, start visiting forts and palaces built by the Rajput kings. Popular attractions in the city include the City Palace (and the City Palace Museum), the Jantar Mantar Observatory and the Hawa Mahal.
