NCR is a rural-urban region, which contains several ecologically sensitive areas such as the Aravalli ridge, forests, and wildlife and bird sanctuaries. Just across the Yamuna River from Delhi, NOIDA is the most modern city of Uttar Pradesh's. This city gave a breathing space to businesses, who were somewhere strangulated by Delhi's congestion and steep rents. NOIDA boasts of the best roads & infrastructure, which indeed makes it a new hub for offices from almost all segments such as IT, ITES, Banking etc. The city has maintained decent green cover and is less crowded. Meerut is the second largest city in NCR, after Delhi. This is a place that dates back its history to Indus Valley Civilization and has also been the center for many upsurges during India’s fight for Independence. Interestingly, it also has the mythological traces from days of Mahabharata. An amusing place for history lovers, Meerut boasts of a rich heritage and cultural extravaganza. Prime places of tourist interest here are the Jain Temples of Hastinapur, Suraj Kund, Mansa Devi Temple, Augarnath Temple, Martyr’s Memorial, Gandhi Bagh, Shahi Eid Gaah, Jama Masjid, Shahpeer’s Mausoleum, Dargah of Baley Miyan of 1194, St. John’s Church of 1822, Parikshitgarh fort and many other places of historical & religious importance. The Nauchandi Mela, which starts from second Sunday after Holi and stretches for a month exhibits the artistic and religious rituals followed in rustic Uttar Pradesh and has uncountable shops of crafts, handlooms and more.
