After exploring the old and new age tourist attractions in Delhi, head straight to Shravasti, the place where Buddha performed the Tirthika heretics. Jetavana and the Ananda Bodhi Tree are two major attractions that you will see here. Kushinagar, where Buddha died, is your next halt. While in Kushinagar, you'll visit the Nirvana Temple and the Ramabhar Stupa. Vaishali, Nalanda and Rajgir are the other important locations where you'll discover many relics of Buddha. Visit the Ashoka Pillar, the Buddha Stupa and the Shanti Stupa. Reach Bodhgaya to visit many other Buddhist sites including the Mahabodhi Temple, the Bodhi Tree, the Great Buddha Statute etc. Undertake a road journey to Varanasi while visiting Sarnath en route. Sarnath is of special significance because this is where Buddha delivered his first sermon. Once in Varanasi, spend your evening along the banks of the Ganges and watch the 'Ganga Aarti' in its full glory. After an early morning boat ride along the Ganges in Varanasi the next day, catch a flight to Delhi for your onward journey.

Itinerary

  • Day 01 : Arrive Delhi

    Our company representative will receive you at Delhi airport and will escort you to your pre-booked hotel where you stay for the night.

  • Day 02 : Delhi

    A combined trip of Old and New Delhi waits you this morning as you kick start your Buddhist tour in India with us. Drive past the sixteenth century Red Fort of Delhi, visit memorial of Mahatma Gandhi, Jama Mosque and take a rickshaw ride in the busy streets of Chandni Chowk. Reach Humayun's Tomb by a beautiful drive through India Gate and President's Palace. Late afternoon pay a visit to Qutub Minar before reaching back to your hotel.

  • Day 03 : Shravasti

    Fly to Lucknow and take a drive to Sravasti in a private vehicle. Sravasti, is sacred to Buddhists because it is here that Lord Buddha performed the Tirthika heretics. Sightseeing tour around Sravasti includes visit to Jetavana and Ananda Bodhi Tree. Drive to hotel where you stay for the night.

  • Day 04 : Mandawa to Bikaner

  • Day 05 : Kushinagar

    Maya Devi Temple, dedicated to the mother of Lord Buddha was built during the 02nd century. Visit the temple and then drive to Kushinagar crossing the Indo-Nepal border. The sightseeing trip of Kushinagar has some great Buddhist sites including Nirvana Temple and Ramabhar Stupa.

  • Day 06 : Vaishali, Nalanda, Rajgir

    Mahavira and was the capital of Lichchavis in early times. Ashoka Pillar, Buddha stupa and Shanti stupa are the important sites to visit here. On our way to Rajgir you will visit the ruins of great Nalanda University. Nalanda, the first residential university of the world was founded in the 5th Century A.D. where 2000 teachers and 10000 Students from all over the Buddhist world lived and studied.

  • Day 07 : Bodhgaya

    Lord Buddha spent many months at Rajgir and use to meditate and preach here. He delivered some of his famous sermons. Lord Mahavira also spent about 14 years of his life at Rajgir and Nalanda. Visit the monastery of Venuvana Vihar built by King Bimbisara for Lord Buddha to reside. Continue drive to Bodhgaya.

  • Day 08 : Bodhgaya

    It is an important day of the trip as you will visit some famous Buddhist sites in Bodhgaya and Gaya including Mahabodhi Temple, Bodhi Tree, Great Buddha Statue, Niranjana River, and Sujata Temple. Besides this you will also visit several Buddhist temples built by the followers of Buddhism from all over the world.

  • Day 09 : Sarnath, Varanasi

    Drive towards Varanasi this morning. On the way stop at Sarnath which has the privilege of Lord Buddha delivering his first sermon after attaining enlightenment 2500 years ago. Sarnath holds a number of Buddhist sites that include the famous Dhamekh Stupa, the seat of the holy Buddha. This evening spend time near the ghat of holy river Ganges to witness the famous 'Grand Aarti Ceremony'.

  • Day 10 : Depart Delhi

    The day starts with a boat cruise on river Ganges as you witness the early morning offerings and prayers on the bank of the river. Take a walk along the narrow streets and visit some important sites of interest. Fly to Delhi from where you connect with your onward flight.
