The people of Mizoram have a unique culture and way of life. The term "Mizo" refers to the tribal people of Mizoram, meaning "people" (mi) "of the hills" (zo). The Durtlang Hills' Zoological Park and Museum will be our first stop on the second day of the Mizoram Tribal Tour after breakfast at the hotel. Durtlang is located 5 km from the city on a relatively steep hill. One can climb up to the top on foot or take a cab. Upon reaching the summit of Durtlang, you can witness the captivating view of the entire Aizawl city.
Apart from the zoo, we will also visit the KV paradise, famously known as the Taj Mahal of Mizoram. Khawlhring built this marble mausoleum in memory of his beloved wife, Varte. After Varte's unfortunate demise in a motor accident, Khawlhring used his savings to construct this three-story mausoleum in her honor. The mausoleum is situated just 1 km away from the Durtlang hill via an incredibly narrow dirt lane.
We'll also visit Aizawl's Handloom and Handicraft Centre before strolling through a typical Mizo tribal village. Stroll around Aizawl's primary retail district, Bara Bazar, in the evening. The Bazar is where residents can sell goods produced on their farms and homesteads, including river crabs in little wicker baskets residents are permitted to dress in their traditional garb there.
After having breakfast in the morning, we shall depart for Lunglei. Upon reaching Lunglei, we will proceed to our hotel for check-in. For the night stay in the hotel.
Lunglei: Mizoram's second largest urban centre, Lunglei, offers an excellent starting point for nature enthusiasts keen on exploring the lush flora and fauna surrounding the city. With an altitude of 1222 meters, Lunglei is positioned at a higher elevation than Aizawl.
We will spend the entire day exploring Pangzawl village, linked to the legend of Chaweng Fungi and its surroundings. Later in the day, we will depart on a trip to Kawmzawl village. We will spend the night at the Lunglei tourist lodge.
After the morning meal, depart towards Aizawl to discover various indigenous villages. Once there, complete the check-in process at the hotel and spend the night. Hence concluding the Mizoram Tribal Tour for the day.
Take a day trip to Tamdil Lake, Mizoram's most famous naturally occurring lake, enveloped by dense woodland. The lake is the abode of a wide variety of flora and fauna. For the night, get back to Aizawl.
Following breakfast, head to Aizawl Airport for your next destination. Here our Mizoram Tribal Tour comes to an end.
