The Druk Path trek is a short, moderate level trek. It starts from Paro Valley and goes up to Thimpu Valley and vice versa. The two valleys are separated by a range of mountains which you'll see during the trek. Stunning views of Mt. Chomolhari (7,314 m), Mt. Jichu Drake (6,989 m) and Mt. Gangkhar Puensum (7,541 m) will fill your heart with utter delight during the Druk Path trekking in Bhutan.

Detailed itinerary

Day 01 Paro

On reaching at Paro, complete the immigration and custom formalities. Our guide will meet you at the airport and assist you to your hotel. Later visit the Ta Dzong, natural Museum, Rinpung Dzong built in 1645 to defend the valley against Tibetan invaders. Evening, wander around the main street, visiting local handicraft shops. Day 02 Paro

Today we explore one of the spectacular and sacred monasteries Taktshang Monastery, also known as the Tiger’s Nest. From here visit the historic ruins of the Drukgyal Dzong, built in 1647 and Kyichu Lhakhang belong to the 7th on the way back

Day 03 Paro to Jele Dzong

Today, we get prepared to start our trek, (10Kms, 4 - 5 hrs at an altitude: 3,560 m), we meet our guide and camp crew at the National Museum and begin our trek to Jele Dzong. Enjoy the breath taking views of mount Jomolhari. Overnight stay at Camps

Day 04 Jele Dzong to Jangchulakha

After breakfast at camps, start the short climb of 1.5 hrs and then climb through thick alpine forests and rhododendrons. Total trek of 10 Kms / 3 to 4 hrs at an altitude of 3770m). Enjoy the views of snow capped mountains. Continue our uphill walk to reach at Jangchulakha (3,780m) with outstanding views of the Himalayan range. Overnight stay at Camps

Day 05 Jangchulakha to Jimilangtso

Follow the trial viewing the mountains and Thimpu valley, after climb; we will reach to the Jimilangtso lake coverning 11 Kms / 4 hrs at an altitude: 3,879 m. Overnight stay at Camps

Day 06 Jimilangtsho to Simkota

Follow the track through rhododendron trees further following the lake Janetsho, enjoy the view of Himalaya across the deep valleys and reach Simkotatsho Lake (11 Km / 4 hrs at an altitude of 4110 m), Overnight stay at Camps near yak pasture

Day 07 Simkota to Thimphu

If weather permit, we will climb, Mt.Gangkar Puensum highest peak of Bhutan, from here trail downwards and reach Phajoding Monastery, one of the richest and most decorated monasteries. Further trek to down hill through a blue pine forest and reach Thimphu (15 Km, 7 hrs, Altitude: 3,610 m). On reachinga at Thimpu, check into your hotel and spend the day at leisure.

Day 08 Thimphu Sightseeing

After a leisurely breakfast, proceed for the full day sightseeing of Thimpu, visiting the National Memorial chorten, National Library, Folk Heritage Museum, Tashichho Dzong, National Textile Museum, National Institute of Traditional Medicine, School of Traditional Painting of Arts and Crafts and Handicrafts Emporium and local crafts shop.

Day 09 Thimphu to Punakha

After breakfast, proceed towards Punakha, a capital of Bhutan, gifted with Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers, crops and fruits valley, and the spectacular views of Dochula pas (alt. 3,050m). On reaching at Punakha, check into your hotel, and later visit the Punakha Dzong, which is completely restored by the present King. Visit suspension Bridge nearby (the longest bridge in Bhutan). Evening explore the local streets of the Punakha, Overnight stay at Punakha.

Day 10 Punakha to Paro

Today we drive to Paro via Thimphu, visiting Simtokha Dzong and Tashichho Dzong, From here continue our drive to Paro and reach at your hotel. Rest of the day is at leisure to explore the town at your own,

Day 11 Depart Paro

After breakfast, drive to the airport on time to catch your flight for onward journey.

The Southern Splendour tour of South India offers comfortable 12 nights and 13 days stay in handpicked hotels including few city hotels, guest houses, beach resorts and some characteristic hotels.
